Particles of Everything

In a small patch of forest lives a man who makes wine without electricity, machinery, or chemicals. His wine is as alive as the home he shares with a roost-ruling cat, a mischievous terrier, a scramble of chicks, ducks, geese, and unhurried insects.

This peace is disrupted by heavy rains, heatwaves and drought, threatening harvests and the living world. Monoculture neighbors answer with tractors spraying chemicals, closing in around the fragile harmony he has created. As extremes grow and personal loss arrives, his convictions are put to the test. Throughout it all, the trees he and friends have been planting amongst the vines reveal something remarkable.

Filmed over three years, Particles of Everything follows Patrick Desplats and the fragile ecosystem under pressure. Beautiful, intimate, funny and moving, the film draws audiences into its textures and rhythms, and asks us how we choose to live within the natural world.
